800cc Sand Viper Clutch Adjustment
1100cc Sand Viper Clutch Adjustment

Symptoms may include:
    Your Sand Viper 800 or 1100 seems to have a locked up clutch.
    When you fully depress the Sand Viper clutch, it does not seem to disengage.
    The Joyner Sand Viper clutch cable may seem to be too long and you can't seem to find the disengagement point.
    Your clutch could have been working perfectly very recently and not seems to be unable to disengage.
    When you try to start the Sand Viper, the dune buggy rolls forward if in gear even with clutch petal fully depressed.
    Shifting is difficult when the engine is running but easy when engine is not running.

Sand Viper 1100cc and 800cc Clutch Design
Clutch design on the 1100cc Sand Viper and 800cc Sand Viper, is slightly different than most motorcycle or car clutch systems. In this case, over tightening the clutch cable will result in lock up of the clutch. The "sweet spot" will likely be found at a less than fully depressed position.

Finding the "Sweet spot"
In a SAFE and open area only. Sandy or loose surface is best to help reduce wear and tear on the drive train.
    Start the engine with transmission in neutral.
    Fully depress the clutch petal push the gear shifter slightly toward first gear. DO NOT FORCE OR GRIND IT INTO GEAR.
    While still applying slight pressure on the gear shifter toward first gear, slowly release the clutch petal until the shifter slides easily into gear. If the vehicle moves forward in first gear, experiment with various clutch positions to find the "sweet spot."
Holding the clutch petal in the sweet spot will cause your Sand Viper to coast to a stop and the engine should remain running.
Note the distance between the sweet spot verses the fully depressed position.

Clutch Adjustment

Resting Position
    Adjust the Allen head screw to set your desired clutch petal resting position.
    Remove tension from clutch cable at clutch action arm.
Where the clutch cable attaches to the clutch action arm, there is an adjustment nob at the end of the cable. Use the adjustment nuts at the petal end of your clutch cable if necessary.

Fully Depressed Position
    Check your sweet spot (wink)
    Adjust clutch petal end stop bolt so the final position of the petal corresponds to your sweet spot position.
